This Wednesday sees Clevedon Pier launching its new Glass Box cafe, which has a menu featuring takeaway gourmet seaside treats.

Award-winning head chef Nicholas Thick and his catering team will be offering locally-sourced, freshly cooked traditional favourites with vegetarian and vegan options, all very reasonably priced.

Pier manager Nicole Laken said:

“Our takeaway offer will allow visitors to the Pier to enjoy outstanding food and drink in the fresh air, taking in the spectacular views and very special atmosphere which make Clevedon Pier such a wonderful place.”

Phil Curme, chairman of Clevedon Pier & Heritage Trust, added:

“Our Glass Box fish and chip restaurant is the result of many months of careful thought and planning. We were determined to create a top rate catering experience to complement Grade 1 listed Clevedon Pier. We are now ready to launch and I think our visitors are going to be absolutely delighted with the quality of the offer.”

The Glass Box cafe, which is run by Clevedon Pier & Heritage Trust, will open its doors to customers for the first time on Wednesday 21 July, and its Summer Takeaway Menu will then be available from Wednesday to Sunday from 11am to 3pm. It will also provide in-house catering for Pier events and functions.

Head chef Nicholas Thick, who has worked in catering for 27 years, and has won various awards including two rosettes and two blue ribbons, plus numerous tourism awards for food excellence, said he is looking forward to providing visitors to the Pier with gourmet takeaways from the Glass Box.

“I’m really looking forward to running the Glass Box, working with all local suppliers and fresh local ingredients to create menus that will change with the seasons, and will include lots of homemade specials.”
