YMCA CLEVEDON: COST OF LIVING CRISIS – COMMUNITY REUSE EVENT 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Marson Road, Clevedon, BS21 7NN. The YMCA are holding an on-going free event throughout the Winter. Their aim is to provide a warm environment where people can sit in comfort and enjoy free refreshments. You will be able to pick up good quality household items, clothes and food. CLEVEDON ATHLETIC CLUB: MIDSUMMER 10K – it’s a fast, flat course that takes you out on a loop of quiet country lanes between Clevedon and the village of Kingston Seymour where there will be a water station, just before the halfway point. The route continues along marshalled country lanes before making a sharp right to return to the T-junction that takes you back towards Clevedon. CLEVEDON SAILING CLUB: CLEVEDON SWIM RUN -RUN – SWIM – REPEAT Registration opens at 8.30 a.m. and closes at 9.30. Clevedon SwimRun is a short distance: about 6k running and 1k of swimming, split into five short runs each divided by a 250m swim in Clevedon Marine Lake. Clevedon SwimRun is ideal for a beginner or expert, it’s like a tough park run with some swimming included. You don’t need any special kit, it can be done in running shorts, t-shirt and old pair of trainers. There are two class of entry: INDIVIDUAL – do it all yourself, you know you want to. Entry is £20 per person. TEAM – find a buddy and split the effort, typically a runner and a swimmer, or do a lap each. Teams members get time out to chat to others while waiting for their turn and it builds a bit of friendly competition to add to the experience. Entry is £30 per team. Swimmers are carried down on the ebb tide, under Clevedon’s grade 1 listed pier, to finish at Clevedon beach, a distance of about 1 mile. Swimmers may swim with or without a wetsuit, though novices are advised to wear one. There are two waves, fast set off first followed by leisure swimmers. Entry is £20. FAST (max:50) not available to novices. Only SKINS swimmers are eligible to win one of the 1928 silver trophies.
