Pale Blue is a lovely boutique which established itself in the very beautiful, much loved Hill Road in 2009. The owner Jane, opened a Wedmore branch in 2016.

Pale Blue sell unique, independent and affordable women’s clothing and many other lovely items such as jewellery and bags. Every time I go in, something new, aside from the fabulous clothing range, catches my eye. Jane has everything from the sassy to the sensible. She mixes up the stock and uses an ever changing mix of independent suppliers who are mostly U.K based but also regular suppliers from France, Italy, Germany and the  Netherlands.

Jane and her team create a warm, friendly atmospehere in the boutique and are always extremely welcoming whether you are just calling in for a look around or whether you are looking for something specific. There is no hard sell.

 Jane never buys in huge quantities because she likes to keep the shops fresh with ever changing and dynamic collections. The wonderful jewellery and accessories sit alongside and complement each range.

 I asked Jane what influenced her choice of clothes for the shops. She replied:

 ‘I don’t really have any stringent buying strategies; I just buy what I love which makes life easy but I do always think carefully about the merchandising of anything I buy before I commit. I have to be able to visualise things in the shop first,  and know that they will work and be a good fit with everything else !!’ 

Jane loves the fact that both her boutiques are part of an independent shopping community whereas the larger high streets and stores are disappearing as they all relocate to Malls and larger outlets. She feels that the small independent shopping communities are benefiting, mainly because they offer unique individual products and because the whole shopping experience is so much more pleasurable.

I know what she means! What could be nicer than strolling along Hill Road, shopping at Pale Blue, calling into Murray’s for a cup of their delicious Italian coffee and then heading down to the Pier for a relaxed stroll?
