Un paradiso per gli amanti del cibo!

“We are a small independent business that prides itself on seeking out the finest foods Italy, Britain, and particularly Somerset have to offer with the provenance, welfare and quality of everything we buy and sell being of great importance to us.”

This is the vision that permeates every aspect of the Murrays’ business and which translates to weekly deliveries of fresh produce from Milan, a vast array of top quality meats, cheeses and antipasti, an artisan bakery that sells the finest tasting bread as well as a selection of savoury baked goods such as pizza and tarts baked daily, an impressive display of Italian wine and prosecco sourced from small producers and shelves laden with an abundance of artisan products from Italy and the south-west: pickles, chutneys, purees, pasta, olive oils, vinegars, preserves, biscuits, cakes, sweets, teas and coffees. Murrays is always a great place to visit but If you have ‘foodies’ amongst your friends or in the family, it’s a must for birthdays and Christmas time.

And then we have the Caffe Bar which is a lovely big, relaxed space that affords a lot of privacy. The hall marks of Murrays’ chefs are experience, passion and flair and everything that comes out of the kitchens reflects this.

They serve breakfast until 11.30am and coffee and cake all day. Truly delicious pizzas and sandwiches are also available throughout the day as is an inspirational, varied menu which is always stunningly presented. Prices are very reasonable. The service throughout the day is friendly and attentive but never obtrusive.

I’m sitting here with today’s menu in front of me? What shall it be? For starters I’m torn between the smoked salmon with salt baked beetroot, crostini and horseradish cream and the pan fried Scottish scallops with a brandy and Amalfi lemon noisette butter, capers and pancetta! What a choice! For the main course it’s easy, I’m going for the butternut squash risotto with Parmesan, fried sage and toasted walnuts. I say it’s easy because everything that comes out of a Murrays’ kitchen is a culinary delight but the flavours, textures and presentation of their vegetarian dishes are unbeatable. Whatever I choose, I know it will be beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. Murrays certainly deserves its place in the Good Food Guide!

All of the food at Murrays is available to take away, they offer food and wine tastings throughout the year and they are happy to cater corporate events, business lunch, birthdays, weddings, picnics, anniversaries; if you have a celebration then they will cater for it.

How lucky are we to have this diverse, dynamic business right on our doorstep?
