Have you checked out the lovely new website that was launched this week by team Curzon? Unfortunately, I had booked my tickets for ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ before I joined so wasn’t able to take advantage of the membership loyalty scheme.
There are three membership options: The Tribe is a family membership; The School of Life is for 15 – 30-year-olds; The Graduate is for the rest of us. Membership brings with it a 10% back loyalty scheme on all ticket purchases which includes everything in the standard programme but excludes event cinema and comedy. Other loyalty benefits will be revealed as the system beds in and staff get used to the fabulous new ticketing software.
Anyway, on to this week’s programme with the film ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’ that I am so excited about, having read and loved the book. Did anyone else read it and love it as much as I did? Released in 2018, it not only topped the New York Times bestsellers list but also remained Amazon’s most popular fiction book throughout 2019 with 12 million copies sold to date. If there’s any way you can read the book before seeing the film then I would strongly recommend you do so. I am hoping that the film is as magical as the book but the reviews are mixed.

“Where the Crawdads Sing is not without flaws but it draws the viewer into its specific time and place and offers an engaging two-hour escape into the life of a memorable individual. More movies today could learn from such an “old-fashioned” approach.” James Berardinelli ReelViews TOP CRITIC July 15th, 2022
“……….it’s undeniable that the star of the show here is the dynamite Daisy Edgar-Jones, giving fans of the book as perfect a cinematic interpretation of a fan-favourite fictional female character as possible, cut from the same cloth as Emma Watson’s Hermione Granger and Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen…….” Zoe Rose Bryant Loud and Clear Reviews July 12th, 2022

DC LEAGUE OF SUPER PETS
RUN TIME: 105 MNS RATING: PG. FRIDAY 5TH AUG TO THURSDAY 11TH AUGUST. BOOK YOUR TICKETS HERE:
Krypto the Super-Dog hails from the planet Krypton like his best friend Superman. The pair are inseparable; from hanging out to fighting crime, they’re always together. So when Superman is in danger, Krypto wants to stage a rescue mission, but he’ll need some help.
Thankfully, a group of shelter animals inherit incredible superpowers. Ace the dog develops super strength, Merton the turtle becomes a speedster, PB the pig has the ability to grow to any size and Chip, the squirrel, harnesses electric powers. Together, they become a formidable team, but will they be able to work together to save the Justice League?
Though it’s intended for a younger audience, there’s a lot of humour packed into the movie for adults, too. In fact, from the look of the trailer alone, it’s the kind of movie parents will enjoy seeing with their kids, especially if the parents are DC Comics fans.
Not surprisingly, the DC League of Super-Pets cast is absolutely stacked with A-list talent. Just check out those voices.

NT LIVE: PRIMA FACIE ENCORE
RUN TIME: 131 MINS RATING: 15. WEDNESDAY 10th AUGUST BOOK YOUR TICKETS HERE:
Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) makes her West End debut in the UK premiere of Suzie Miller’s award-winning play. Tessa is a young, brilliant barrister. She has worked her way up from working-class origins to be at the top of her game; defending; cross-examining and winning.
An unexpected event forces her to confront the lines where the patriarchal power of the law, burden of proof and morals diverge. Prima Facie takes us to the heart of where emotion and experience collide with the rules of the game. Justin Martin directs this solo tour de force, captured live from the intimate Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End.
Based on the play: Suzie Miller
Directed by: Justin Martin
Produced by: Empire Street Productions
Starring: Jodie Comer
“If you’ve seen Jodie Comer play the murderous Villanelle in Killing Eve you’ll know she is a gifted shapeshifter. Nothing, though, can quite prepare you for the range, energy, resilience, emotional clarity and sheer presence she offers in this play by the Australian lawyer turned writer Suzie Miller.” Dominic Maxwell The Times
“Comer is the reason we’re here. Her commitment made the production happen and kept it alive through delays. We all wanted to know if she’s as good live on stage as she is on screen. And the answer is no: she’s better.” Nick Curtis Evening Standard
“I get to say this all too seldom these days, but Prima Facie is an important play, brilliantly acted, written and directed and with something worthwhile to say for itself.” Tim Walker The New European
And that’s it for the week! All the best with your new systems Curzon team! Have a great weekend!
