“If you are going to get anywhere in life you have to read a lot of books.” – Roald Dahl

Some 100 Clevedon children read a book every single day for six weeks as part of the Mary Elton Summer Reading Challenge

Mary Elton Primary School pupils thrived in a challenge set by the school to read every single day over the summer holidays. Now over 100 of them have been rewarded by the school with a celebratory tea party with abundant amounts of cake and squash.

Teacher Rachael Ten Broeke who hosted the much anticpated tea party, on the afternoon of Tuesday 2nd October said: “They all did amazing. This year’s challenge is just the beginning as we are aiming to have even more children at the next party!”

Mary Elton is a high achieving, inspirational school and part of the expanding Clevedon Learning Trust. The school places great emphasis on the children developing a core set of learning values which they call their 5Cs: curiouscreativecollaborativecritical thinkers and courageous. The 5cs are designed to support the children’s holistic development.
